PALMVIEW, Texas-The City of Palmview is taking proactive measures to help residents prepare for potential heavy rainfall that could impact the Rio Grande Valley by organizing a sandbag distribution event today. This self-serve initiative allows residents to collect six sandbags, while local businesses can receive up to eight.
To participate, individuals must provide proof of residency. Recognizing the diverse needs of the community, assistance will be available for elderly and disabled residents to ensure they can secure the necessary resources.
This effort underscores the city’s commitment to community safety and preparedness in the face of potential flooding.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to help them safeguard their homes and businesses.
The distribution is happening today, Friday, August 15 from 4- 6 p.m. The distribution site is located on the west side of City on Commercial Plaza Drive.
The bags, sand, and shovels are provided, and residents will need to fill their own sandbags.
