Notice regarding recent changes to the City of Palmview inspection procedures

As a result of significant residential growth in Palmview there has been a sharp increase in the number of building permits and inspections. To streamline the process and ensure all inspection requests are received and scheduled accurately, the following changes have been made.

  1.  Inspections are performed daily with an AM cycle and a PM cycle.
  2. AM inspections will be conducted between 9:30am – 11:30am.
  3. PM inspections will be conducted between 2:30pm – 4:30pm.
  4. After hours inspections are available if needed outside the regular working hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.  A $75.00 fee is required to be paid before the inspection is conducted.
  5. To prevent excessive calls to our office, green or red tags are left on site when an inspection has been performed and inspection results will not be given over the phone until the following business day to assure our inspector due time to input inspection results.
  6. If an inspection is called in it must be ready and accessible to our inspector during the respective two-hour inspection cycle window or will be charged a re-inspection fee.
  7. Our inspector will not call prior to the inspection to notify you they are on the way nor will they schedule a specific time as inspection loads change daily.

Inspection requests

  • Inspections received between 8:00am – 12:00pm will be sent for inspection the same day on our PM cycle; 2:30pm – 4:30pm.
  • Inspections received between 12:01pm – 5:00pm will be sent for inspection the following day on our AM cycle: 9:30am – 11:30am.
  • Depending on the volume of inspections for any given cycle the inspection may be pushed to the next inspection cycle.

Inspection cancellations

  • All requests to cancel inspections must be called into our permits office at 956-432-0300 ext. 3 prior to the requested inspection cycle.
  • Any cancelation after the inspection cycle has begun will be subject to a failed inspection with a reinspection fee assessed.
