PALMVIEW, Texas-(May 24, 2024) City of Palmview staff conducted a walk-through of Bentsen Palm and La Homa Roads today, where improvements began in late April. They report that the project is now complete about three weeks ahead of schedule.
Earthworks began working on the two major roadways in late April and anticipated it would take 60 days to complete.
The improvements include a complete overlay of approximately 4,087 linear feet of roadway on South Bentsen from Interstate 2 south to Business 83 and 2,017 linear feet on La Homa from I2 to Esther Street. Both sections were also striped.
The City of Palmview received federal funds from the Hidalgo County Urban County Program for this project. The county program administers Housing and Community Development Block Grant funds awarded to the county to help communities that don’t get CDBG funds directly from HUD.
Palmview received $380,837.00 for the entire cost of the project thus saving the taxpayers money.
