PALMVIEW, Texas-The Palmview City Council paid tribute to the very last Council Member to hold the Place 5 Council Seat. As of May 15, 2024, the Place 5 seat no longer exists.  The City Council will now consist of four council members and one mayor who will also have voting power.

The change comes after residents voted to change the City’s Charter in November 2023.  Mr. Garcia who was the Mayor Pro Tem was recognized for eight years of service to the community.  He was first elected to the council in 2016 and re-elected in 2020.

He also served on the Palmview Municipal Development District Board since 2017.  While on the PMDD he served as president, vice-president, and a director.

During his recognition, Mr. Garcia said he is grateful for the opportunity to serve this beautiful community. “I believe in leaving a place better than how you found it and I’m positive that we’ve achieved financial accountability, improved public safety, and changed the quality of life.  I know that the City is in good hands.”  He also thanked his colleagues on the Council and the community for affording him the privilege to serve for eight years.

The council credits him with serving as a mentor with a heart of service who always has the city’s best interest in mind.

For his eight years of service, the City of Palmview extends a well-deserved thank you to Mr. Garcia and encourages the community to do the same.
