PALMVIEW, TX-The Palmview City Council officially welcomed Gene, a specially trained support canine during the October 6, 2025, meeting.
Gene, a friendly and skilled standard poodle, provides emotional support and stress relief to police officers and first responders, city staff, and victims. His training includes obedience, stress detection, and therapeutic interactions, fostering a supportive environment.
Police Chief Jose Trevino emphasized the importance of mental health support for staff and victims as the most important reason for getting him. Gene came to Palmview free of charge from the K9s for Warriors Program.
