PALMVIEW, Texas – With the Fourth of July holiday approaching, the Palmview Police Department will participate in the Impaired Driving Mobilization initiative from June 26 to July 13, 2025. This statewide campaign aims to reduce crashes and fatalities by focusing enforcement efforts on identifying and removing impaired drivers from Texas roadways.
Throughout the mobilization period, officers will increase patrols and conduct enforcement for traffic infractions, especially those related to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
“Drunk driving is not only illegal—it’s deadly,” said Jose Trevino, Chief of the Palmview Police Department. People often underestimate the impact of their decisions, but the statistics are clear: Last year, Texas experienced an average of 65 alcohol-related crashes every day, resulting in three fatalities daily. These are not just numbers; they are lives lost and families devastated.
The goal of the initiative is to save lives. The campaign urges all drivers to make responsible choices to designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or make arrangements to stay overnight if drinking is involved.
The Palmview Police Department encourages all residents and visitors to celebrate the holiday responsibly. A safe celebration starts with a sober ride home.
