Palmview Police Once Again Bringing Back Explorer Program
PALMVIEW, Texas- The Palmview Police Department invites teens aged 14-18 interested in law enforcement to be part of this summer’s Explorer Program.
The Academy will begin on June 12 and runs through July 14. Classes will be held daily from 8:30 to 3:30 p.m.
There is a tuition fee of $200 that will cover the uniforms and supplies. Each applicant must attend an open house meeting with their parents or legal guardian to complete the applications in person. The Open House will be held on June 7 at 5:30 p.m.
The program is designed to teach teens about police work. It also provides an opportunity to develop physical and emotional strength, sound character, solid values, and a sense of purpose.
In addition, participants will engage in basic law enforcement training, traffic enforcement, building clearing, investigations, victims’ rights, and other areas. Explorers participate in City and Police events, field trips, and other law enforcement-related activities.
The Palmview Explorer Program was founded in 1996. In fact, some of our PD employees began their law enforcement careers after participating in the program.
Lieutenant Arnold Sepulveda, a 17-year veteran of the department was part of the founding program and says it changed his life. “Growing up, I was drawn by the allure of success in the developing computer world, but being in the Palmview Police Explorer program changed my perspective, and allowed me to experience the more gratifying life of service to our community.”
To become part of Palmview’s 2023 Police Explorer Program teens must be at least 14 years old and must have completed the 8th grade.
