PALMVIEW, Texas- The City of Palmview and the Palmview Police Department will commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week on April 24 by hosting a candlelight vigil to encourage members of the community to learn how to help survivors.
This year’s theme is How would you help? Options, services, and hope for crime survivors and asks everyone to get involved by learning how to help.
Palmview Police Chief Jose Trevino says we must create an environment in which victims and survivors feel safe talking about what happened to them. “It’s a chance to recommit to our victims by pursuing resources needed to heal from the emotional, psychological, physical, and financial scars of those traumatic experiences.
During the event, Palmview PD, the Hidalgo County District Attorney, Terry Palacios, and Hilda Garcia of Mujeres Unidas will share information about the options and services available locally to victims and survivors.
The Candlelight Vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Palmview City Hall.
The City of Palmview and the Palmview Police Department call on all residents to participate and stand up for crime victims in our community.
