PALMVIEW, Texas- The Palmview Police Department is excited to announce the launch of its inaugural Operation Safe Halloween initiative.  This proactive measure that begins on Monday, October 28, 2024, aims to enhance community safety during the Halloween festivities.

As part of Operation Safe Halloween, members of the Palmview Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division will conduct visits to all registered sex offenders residing in the city.  The following are some examples of conditions that the court or probation department may impose upon their release:

  • Not turning on outdoor lights on Halloween night.
  • Remaining at their residence throughout the evening.
  • Refraining from attending any Halloween events within the City.

Palmview Police Chief Jose Trevino says this initiative is about keeping our community safe.  “We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy Halloween without concern.  By reminding those under these conditions, we hope to create a safer environment for our children and families.”

Chief Trevino encourages all residents to participate in Halloween activities safely and responsibly saying that together, we can ensure a fun and secure celebration for everyone.

Meantime, the PD is going one step further by providing an opportunity for kids to do their trick-or-treating in a safe environment without walking on streets and going door to door.  The department is hosting its annual Trunk or Treat event on October 31 at the Palmview Municipal Park from 6-9 p.m.  This is a free event and open to the public.
