PALMVIEW, Texas- Speeding continues to be one of the leading causes of deadly crashes across the State of Texas. That’s why the Palmview Police Department is participating in “Operation Slow Down” in collaboration with TxDOT and other law enforcement agencies. The goal is to save lives by getting drivers to slow down.
Operation Slow Down runs from July 18, 2025, through August 3, 2025. During this period, officers will be more visible throughout the city, the Rio Grande Valley, and the state.
Palmview Police Chief Jose Trevino says that by reducing speed, drivers gain improved reaction time and enhanced vehicle control. “Slower speeds allow more time to react to unexpected situations such as sudden stops or pedestrians crossing the roads. It also gives drivers better control of their vehicles, especially in adverse weather and construction zones.”
Chief Trevino encourages drivers to follow the posted speed limits, report speeding issues, and spread awareness by telling friends and family to foster a culture of safe driving.
