PALMVIEW, Texas- The Palmview Police Department invites residents to get an inside look at the life of a police officer. Applications are now being accepted for the first annual Palmview Police Citizen Academy. The 10-week evening program will start on June 1 and is open to all Palmview residents.
Each week will focus on a new topic such as 9-1-1 dispatching, criminal investigations, ID Theft, firearms, Crimestoppers, narcotics, and patrol operations including a ride-along with officers.
Palmview Police Chief Jose Trevino says the purpose is to provide residents with correct information about Palmview PD and the criminal justice process. “I am passionate about this community initiative because it gives our community the opportunity to interact directly and ask questions about our daily operations.”
The Academy will begin on June 1 and classes will be held every Thursday at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at Palmview City Hall.
There is no charge to participate but everyone must be 18 years of age and older, apply, and pass a background check.
