PALMVIEW, Texas- More than 1400 registered voters participated in the City of Palmview Special Election of July 30 to select someone to fill the unexpired term for the Place 2 Council Member seat.
There were three candidates, and the unofficial results are as follows. Esequiel “Zeke” Ortiz, Jr. received 46 votes (3.14%), Linda Sarabia received 662 votes (45.22%), and Cesar Pena Jr. received 756 votes (51.64%).

The votes will be canvassed on August 6, 2024, to make the results official. Swearing-In for Candidate Elect, Pena Jr. will take place immediately following.
He will serve the remaining one year, and 10 months of Jose Luis Perez’s term. Perez resigned from the City Council in early June after his employer, La Joya Independent School District adopted a policy prohibiting employees in positions equal to or above assistant principal to hold an elected position.
Both the canvassing and the swearing in will take place at Palmview City Hall located at 400 West Veterans Boulevard starting at 5:30 p.m. with the regular Scheduled City Council Meeting starting at 6 p.m.
