PALMVIEW, Texas- The Palmview Municipal Development District(PMDD) recently welcomed two new Directors. Palmview Councilmember Alexandra Flores and Palmview resident Dulce Cortina were sworn in on January 31, 2024, during the entity’s monthly meeting.
Appointed by the City Council, they join the seven-member board and will serve two-year terms. The role of the PMDD is to stimulate economic development and growth opportunities within the City. Responsibilities both new members are ready and excited to take on.
After the swearing-in, Cortina stated she’s honored to serve and contribute to the community where she’d lived all her life. Flores concurred adding that she’s hoping to incorporate additional learning opportunities that will help create more jobs for our residents.
They replace Councilmembers Joel Garcia and Javier Ramirez who after serving more than 10 years combined decided to step down to give other residents an opportunity to serve on this very important board.
Meantime, as required by the entity’s bylaws, the board also elected new officers. The board re-appointed President, Espie Ochoa, and Treasurer/Secretary Ana Alaniz, and appointed Lucy Rosales as Vice-President.
The PMDD board members are all volunteers and meet once a month, usually on the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
The PMDD and the City of Palmview welcome newly sworn-in directors Alexandra Flores and Dulce Cortina.
