Your candidacy declaration entails the obligation to comply with certain applicable state statutes, charter provisions and local ordinances. To inform you of legal requirements of the State and City pertaining to elections and correlating important dates, the City Secretary has prepared a preliminary “Candidate’s Packet” which contains the necessary forms to file for office and additional additional election-related forms and resources are available on this City Secretary/Elections website – inclusive of the City Charter, which provides each candidate an overview of the roles and responsibilities of elected and appointed officials of the City of Palmview, as well as the power given to the citizens.

Accordingly, it is the candidate’s responsibility to become familiar with the laws applicable in campaigning for office.
A candidate will be required to designate a Campaign Treasurer and thereafter, ensure that financial reports are completed by the Candidate’s Campaign Treasurer, signed by the Candidate, and filed in the City Secretary’s Office in a timely manner as prescribed by Title 15 of the Texas Election Code which governs campaign expenditures.
